The 209 perimeter alarm is more compact than the 12 Gauge alarms.  The alarm has a spring loaded firing mechanism and a pull pin release that activates when the attached trip line is disturbed. It also has an additional safety pull pin to hold the mechanism is place while setting up and loading the 209 shotgun primer. It is removed when set up is complete.
